Martin's Pick - score and comments: "Buzz me"
Probably one of your best overall submissions to date. How do you evaluate art?? Well I decided if it could be hung
somewhere and generate interest from Joe Public, then it should be art. There were four in particular that I was
tossing up over, and after long and considered scrutiny I decided that the best shot was the one that made me feel
happy, and which encompassed and embraced art as I understand it. That shot is Buzzme. The colours, the action,
the spot on lighting all converged to make this shot exceptional in most regards. Bloody fantastic!! Pleeeease print.
Other shots in order of merit:
- Lost Thumb - The grain, the lack of detail, the simplicity, the shock and awe. Again, art.
- Valour Hall - Amazing composition and exposure. The light bleed really gives this shot some punch and
interest. This is a shot that could be either viewed in close detail or be seen from afar and still strike appeal.
Would be a terrrific large format print.
- Lake view - Fantastic framing and composition. A tad over ex for me though, maybe the wrong time of day??
Still, love it.
- Decisions - Nice vivid lines and subtle details. The silhouette figures may have improved the image if they
were more "human"... Well captured nontheless.
- Steel Flowers - This is the image that immediately stood out for me when I first had a look. It stinks of
quirkiness and lack of control, yet has real composition kudos. Halo works well too.
- 1Waiting - Great shot, terrific exposure, tells the story well. Maybe it dos'nt deserve to be down here.
Bottled, Astroboy - Nice, but not in the same league as the others.
OK, you win. NFQ....

Gday Braaaaaz;
Whew, what a month. Don't need another like that. My

drive. Nup did'nt like it.
Enough of my rant.

Sean's Pick - score and comments: "Flora"
Better late than never mate,
I acknowledge you are on the ropes a bit these days. The earlier you get a start on the subject the better, just
don’t be late again..
Your four shots for my deliberation I have to say is the one that speaks “Art” to me the most is Flora: This shot
has great colour and DOF, it is a pity you didn’t get the flower in its prime to say capture obvious beauty at its
best but it is nicely framed by the rest of the plant and exposed too.
Other shots in order of merit:
- Glazing: Interesting concoctions, interesting light. The DOF is playing an optical illusion to my eyes with
them not being able to quickly determine which glass is in the front, well blow me down this might be
ART!, That little drop of fluid on the red glass had me checking my monitor, nice blacks.
- Hinge: I first thought this shot was a fast shutter example of a wet sandwich maker slamming shut? Then
I got lost in translation with much of the shot playing with the negative space – certainly out there!
- Rock Chick – Sorry mate not with you on this one, (say hi Bridgette all the same)
