Martin's submission notes:
Holy shiiiiteeeee. Bout time I got these bad boys to you. Still, if I had them to you
on time you may expect punctuality in the future..... Had a bucketload to go
through, but when it came to processing, I found I was binning way more than I
should have.

NEXT MONTH TOPIC: Time lapse
|
Sean's submission notes:
Ok Brazzzzz - here are a bunch of images for your eyeball viewing pleasure for the month of January.
Unfortunately I was pretty busy this month so all of the shots were taken in one afternoon
All processed with contrast and some colour adjustments
No crops to: lipstick seeds, palm seeds, calypso, boozy nights, puddle drowning, slow croton 1,2 & 4, triffid
Sean's Pick - score and comments:
Mate nice work this month with two similar standouts for me worth noting.
Plasma takes the gong in my book, this impressive shot with no editing? Looks to be one of your
best I would say. I love the reflective glow on your face with the spitting of plasma effect across the
rocks here. Composition is sound, perhaps could have burnt your leg out of the frame to assist but
getting picky.
Secondly and obviously as part of the same series I like “Selfie” whilst similar to plasma the artist
merit here with your experimentation has delivered again. The almost hypnonic nature of this shot
leaves me feeling impressed . The contouring of your head with the crazy light and colours works
very well – Good job.
Other shots in order of merit:
- Security: Not a bad lifestyle shot summing up the moment of complacency and modern day
distraction. Nicely framed surfboards adds location and colour punch.
- Femme: Yep typical expat Bali sight to see. I like the expressions and exposure
- The Angler feels like it needs more contrast lift to me – to gray for me, composition ok but.
Other shots not doing it for me

Croton - slow shutter series
|
Martin's Pick - score and comments:
Not a bad days work there Braaaz. Enough variety to suggest that it took longer to get all the grabs.
Nothing really stood out for me this month as a clear winner, so I dug deep into my toplist to find areas where I could see flaws. Couldn't really see
anything that I could play on. So I then decided on the shot that had the most artistic merit. Triffid kept catching my eye as I imagined an antique musical
instrument and the sound that would come from it. Imagine a harpsichord crossed with a sitar.... That's what I am hearing and seeing - and I like it.
Other images in order of merit:
- Reflective Thoughts - well executed capture and post. I just want to see this guy go into a Manchurian tai chi routine.
- Palm Seeds - don't know what it is about this one. I just like it.
- Wired Mateship - marvellous colours, nice leading lines. too little subject connection for me.
- RAAF - Composition and processing make this a far more pleasing shot than it probably should be.
Other shots are out of the mix. The croton.. This series just could'nt get past my first gate. Explain the shot(s) maybe?
