| Martin's Pick - score and comments Mangroved Gotta say I had some trouble with these submissions as I could not make a real connection with any of them. I chose this image as it was the one that was closest to the topic. I like this shot even though the angle annoys me - not that I wanted horizontal, but it just doesn't do it for me. The un cropped top left also detracts. The shot is interesting and well exposed. Some other image notes: Aquamans Doormat – Nearly chose this, and I think its the superior image, but it didn't connect with the topic for me. May have been improved with a clearer day or different time of day. Rock Seals – Love the shapes. Not so happy with the lighting again. Rebirth – I like the image but what am I supposed to be witnessing? The grass growing back after a fire? Like it. I couldn't get a hold on the others....... Am I taking crazy pills here? Maybe I just got to get back to nature........... |
| Sean's Pick - score and comments Procreation Yep this one gets it for me, it’s a pity about the focus not being spot on but I think it’s a well put together shot and brings a smile on my face - Dirty little buggers! Perhaps on a tripod would have assisted? Sorry to mark you down so much but you gave up before you nailed the shot. Other image notes Butterfly – much better use of light, not that exciting but can see the connection with the leaf now. I bet it flew off before the following shot. Fauna – Again focus slightly off on the head but subject well posed and positioned in frame – good depth of field – close second pick, perhaps slight crop from right. Flora – I have those in my garden, they are called “Impatients” and certain types of these flowers change colour quickly when you touch them with a heat source. I love the mottled effect but it is sort of spoiled by that out of focus white bastard in the front. Bringing the subject more into your frame and still using the background could have improved this image I feel? Good job mate – I will catch up with you soon. Luv to gang with kind regards Seano |
