NEXT MONTH: Night Photography- Set by Sean

Martin's Pick - score and comments: "Flower spray"
Ì got some great vibes off your submissions this month. I really like looking at most of your
shots and puzzling through them to try and work out how you did it. Sure some are obvious,
but in the heat of the moment with exposure settings, auto gain or not, how many exposures
etc etc........... I bet there was a few times when you did'nt re-tell the camera to shoot multiple,
and cursed Nikon for not letting it default back to multiple.
In the end I rightly so chose the image that was most pleasing to my eye, Flower-Spray is a fun
quirky image with just enough tech savvy involved to keep it clean. Sure I can see the
darkroom mischief here, but who bloody well cares. Unfortunately our archaic evaluation sheet
gives you one almighty spanking for it. Something to again ponder over for the future.
Other shots in order of merit:
- Voigtlander2 - this image just has a really nice cozy and inviting feel to it. Colours,
contrast, exposure terrific....... Composition sucks arshes. I don't like the horizon and
the reflection thingys bottom left. Would love to see this again.
- Water-ways - I so wanted to give this shot top billing this month. I absolutely love how
the background hills have come up. I see you did some burning.... I would have gone to
town and burnt completely away the buildings in the mid ground. This is probably the
print shot of the month.
- Multiple Me It's good, not great. Far better than my attempt. This type of shot takes
some red hot planning and flawless execution to get right. I would have loved to have
been there hiding out in the bushes watching you prance around like Derek Zoolander.
- Hammered - Yup, nice. I am absolutely sure however that given some extra time and
alternate subject matter that you could pull off something special. This shot is far better
than Cairns-Devil. I await your next.....
- Fast decisions, Voigtlander1 and Red-Barons are still fine shots..... But are not in the
league technically / artistically that I expect of you nowadays.

Sean's photo notes:
Rideyo Man! here are my shots for you this month. I
must say pushing me to use multiple exposures
reminds me of the film days and the trippy times in the
dark room watching in amazement these interesting
compositions come to life. Its great that these DSLRs
have caught up because there is certainly an angle
here which needs to be explored further and look
forward to doing this subject again.
- Four views, this was an experiment which had
me thinking about the amount of useable
information you can jam into a photograph, I
could have spent more time here to improve
sharpness but I assume you get the intent. 4
exposures, Levels, contrast adjustment only.
- Fast Decisions, 3 exposures, levels, contrast,
colour boost.
- Flower Spray, 2 exposures, levels, contrast,
cloned out some background texture from
flower exposure & cropped.
- Hammered, 2 exposures, levels maxed,
contrasted, cropped.
- Multiple me, at least 7 exposures on
intervalometer, levels, constrast, cropped.
- Red Barons - 4 exposures - levels, contrasted,
colour boost.
- Voigtlander2 - 2 exposures levels contast
- Water ways - 4 exposures, levels, dodged&burnt
- Cairns Devil, Cropped, Levels, Contrast,
clonned out wire. 2 exposure stack

Sean's Pick - score and comments: "Tiger Grass"
About Top submissions this month bras, it is really good to see you spread your wings and chase
the shots more, Interesting subject this month’s out from left field too!
I must say the shot I really am impressed with the most was Tiger Grass, I had not explored this
method of over exposing one shot and under exposing the next - I did that Hammered shot based
on this image this morning. I also am impressed how you are playing with the natural composition
of the tree.
Other shots in order of merit:
- Double Doors - Another angle I am yet to play with – This is probably as good as the
previous with superb exposure and symmetry and interesting at the same time. Tripod
used here?
- Bird of paradise – Yep same approach and technically cool with your patience with
arranging the seamless composition. Almost looks like a logo in the making.
- Tequila sunrise - Interesting but feel it could have been improved by filling the glass with
fluid and even putting the tree in the glass? Nice colours.
- Fork in road - Had a double take at this because the roads are quite convincing, feels like
you rushed this though. Trees in the sky spoil this shot IMO.
- Moon Rise – I like the moon arch and size even but the noise doesn't’t work for me.
- Kruger was here – hurts my eyes to access – no offence just heavy on the eyes bras.
- Supernatural Superintendent – Not a lot of interest in this shot but hey you were at
work hey. The door jamb could have been ditched and perhaps some more exposures to
create some wow. I dunno maybe some plans or some action.
All in all – good work this month bras.
