NEXT MONTH SUBJECT:  Night Photography

Martn's Pick - score and comments:  "Swim it"

Another lay down misere this month for first place. Swim It. Interesting foreground and background, tells a whole
wiiiiide story, action happening, nicely composed, timed the capture perfectly and well lit. Most of all it is an engaging
image which I really enjoy looking at. Did you consider wiping away those wires?? What more do you want.... A
frigging kiss?

Other images in order of merit:

  • Hangar: Stock standard widey HDR very well executed. Love the window reflection. I gotta wonder whay you
did'nt attack it perfectly central?? Maybe you did?

  • MirrorMe: Engaging to say the least, but a little drab colourwise. Crisp and neat given the amount of
reflection etc that had to be managed, but lacks absolute symmetry. I like, but not love. A staged shoot with a
gazillion people and some props may work??

  • Trained: Oooh. Not sure that I really like this, but I keep coming back to have another look. Maybe it's
growing on me. Can't help flinching with the "deliberate camera shake"??

  • At-Ease: Giiiingee. Hmmmm. Not really a wide shot per se, but I can tell you used about 14mm on it. Dos'nt hit
topic for me, but I like.

  • Tented: Nice colours and composition, but again dos'nt stink of wide.

  • Baron: Just dos'nt have the punch to get me in to it. I like the composition, but I think your midday overcast
    lighting lets this down..

Sean's Pick - score and comments:  "Blue Lagoon"

Nice catch can this month bras, I was wondering when I was going to see some shots from your cruise out in the
Pacific. I haven’t done one of those trips before looks pretty cool.

Ok down to business, once I got through the glitz and glamour of colour in your submissions this month I kept
coming back to the rather calming image of “Blue Lagoon” which I add has been nicely framed by the foreground
foliage and significant crop which exaggerates the wide angle topic. The human touch provides a sense of scale
and relaxation which only adds to the calm crystal blue waters. Good DOF and all round focus.
Other images in order of merit,

  • South Pacific, this shot was almost my first pick due to the 3D nature of the subjects and fly on the wall
moment in time you have captured. Over saturated yes but still workable with loads of texture I can almost feel.

  • Pool Deck by Day, nicely framed photo that wraps around my gaze with some punch, again the humanoids
add nicely to the structure of the boat and the pool centralised  looks inviting. A bit of edge distortion but not
    so distracting.

  • Pool Deck by Night, a parody to your last shot that had me thinking should I line this up and animate it? I do
like the colours and action going on here and can feel the excitement.  Maybe a touch over exposed in the
middle rear but hey its still reads pretty good. I see the old girls down lower left are getting jiggy with it big time.

  • Furnishing, this would have been nicely complemented with a portrait subject within the almost movie set
prop like nature of this area. A bit bare without but I do like the exposure and mixed texture which is clear
    even at this resolution.

  • Cabin Fever, Angela looks nice and relaxed here I can see you guys needed this trip. A comfy room that I
thought initially massive – then realised the mirror work. A bit too much saturated on my monitor though.

  • Wintergarden, Not bad perspective playing with the buildings form - you know I am not a big fan of distortion
    on buildings but.

  • Tug, down here due to the blackness, grain and disjointed composition.

All in all – I see you decided to leave this month’s submission until you got on the boat so for variety I am going to
hammer you – but I can see technically the relaxed nature of this trip has had an effect on your usual style which I
like.
