Sean's Pick - score and comments:  "Triple Bounce"

So looking at your very obvious reflection shots this month had me chimping through them back and forth culling,
critiquing and sometimes simply bursting into fits of laughter and sometimes rage..

I gotta say but one standout gets it for me though – that being
Triple Bounce. I sat there wondering ok lets look at
this and the more I saw the more my fascination in this crafty shot drew my smile wider and wider.  I really like the
way the subject (ford coupe?) is rolling past. I expect you waited there and had a few goes like on a mission. A good
creative result with the technical element to boot.

Ok other shots in order of merit;

  • Gulls is in second place, would have been nicer with a still reflection but the red legs and white feather is
noted, the stump to right puts the balance off a little – perhaps a tighter crop with that out would have been
    cooler?

  • Lens Flare, not sure about the distortion but the dramatic tree forms do reflect quite well in with the sun.

  • Albert, yep cute, that fly at the water line should have been taken out, It looks like he is looking at the camera
    too.

  • Bubbles, yep a classic water shot, nice colours reflected too – not slapping my face or anything crazy like
    that.

  • Life on the canal, - nice composition but just not sharp enough for me.

  • Bridges, I don’t like that muddy water - it puts me off a little and the reflection is almost nonexistent?

Martin's Pick - score and comments:  "Shades"

I was having some difficulty with a few of your shots aligning them with the topic this month... Maybe I'm too old
school. Some really interesting captures, but my assimilation skills were well and truly tested.

Two shots stood out for me, and both for completely different reasons. Sunset departs from the norm where it is
generally at 16:9, colour focused and symmetrical. I like the processing, and especially like the connection to land. Is
it a great Reflection shot?? Meh, it's a good shot.

Big fan of selective desat when done well. Shades is done well. The reflection makes the viewer want to see more,
nice crop and DOF - so it gets this months gong.

Other shots in order of merit:

  • Elle – I just think this could have been so much better. I like it, but I want something more. Please reshoot.

  • Dripped - Good example of this technique and on topic. I bet you used a bit of shutter count on this. Not sure
about the POV - the geometry dosnt work for me.

  • Waves - Hmmmm. Reflection, yes. Wheres that boat going?? I wanna see it landscape braaaaaz.

  • Squid - Nice colours, but just too messy for mine.

  • Sun Rays - Makes me squint trying to get a focus. Why no sharpy??

Other shots are either not on topic, or don't hit the mark. I wanna see a marked improvement on your timelapses!!!!!
