Sean's submission notes:
First again as usual - had a bugger of a time
like yourself finding the time to get some ideas
down in the camera. In the end I looked at the
butterflies I am breeding for some support.
I have a fair few close ups of these taken with
my iPhone when these guys were caterpillars
and must admit the two shots here are from
the phone. They are not out from their sleepy
as yet and a bit pissed I didn't have them for
you in time.
Ok image notes: all processed raw files -
- 20Bucks, taken from tripod looking
through magnifying glass!
- Bird wing 1 - two strobes with grids
- Bird wing 2 - two strobes with grids (did
I tell you I got me some grids!)
- Bird wing 3 - as above..
- Face off - reflector, tripod, wifi device to
tablet so I could get correct focus
- True Blood - as above, some post
process filter for effect with some fangs
added!
- Wingtip - same set up as the 20Bucks
shot same night
- Birdwing A & B iPhone shots for your
interest.
OK where the hell is my Eval, Subs, taster for
July already!

Martin's submission notes:
Hey Braaaaaaaaz - betcha
thought I had left for
Antarctica.
My subs - all cropped except
Jars. All a smidge of sharp
(flammin soft lenses).
Thought I would send a
bunch this month.
Martin's Pick - and comments: "Face Off"
Hands down winner is Face Off. Great light, comp, DOF, sharp. NFQ. Processing has me wondering. Google close up
and you may just see this shot pop up.
Other images in order of merit:
- Bird wing 2 - Slick nature shot. Email to David Attenborough
- Bird wing B - As above. Lighting makes this one. Enough of the bugs already.
- True blood - Great light! A real lens tester. Nice post.
No need to bang on about why the others did'nt rate. Four real tasty shots braaaaaz.
Wheres my eval, taster, early subs?? Lift yo shiiiiteeee.

Sean's Pick - and comments: "Jars"
Ok Ok nice to see you get your arshe over the line bringing up the rear as usual..
I must say I am liking in the end the variety coming through, I was starting to get worried that you were putting your camera down too much..
I know your busy so will let you off the hook this once.
It was an easy pick for me after going through all your subs a few times which had me stopping more often than not at your sub Jars. I like
this shot for a few reasons, texture, colour, composition, reflection that all work very well. Its sharp where needed and the colours really pop
into my retinas. Sure there are a few minor distractions but they are over powered in this nice shot.
Other images in order of merit;
- Half inch almost had it, I think if you didn’t use that resin rattan in the other shot i might have awarded the gong here. The crop is
sort of tight from top and bottom but the texture and light work well along with an industrial edge, interesting..
- Butt is a really nice warm exposure with sound focus, I can almost smell that dirty fag. May have preferred some added suspense with
some of that tinder going up – it needs something else?
- Corrosion, yep colours, sharp focus, mystery in what the hell am I looking at? I like the use of the cross light on the gloss but sort of
topples over to the right of frame for me.
- Seeds, I don’t mind the way you have worked the background with the centre point of this shot, nice and natural and nice soft
exposure.
- Dirty Harry, I take it that this is some form of mammal perhaps an ewok? Would have loved to get some form of eye connection or is
that the eye in the centre of the head? Man shave that beast.
Other images I could bang on about but don’t rate as high as the ones above.
Not a bad effort in volume and variety m8
