NEXT MONTH TOPIC: Best images for the month

Sean's Pick - score and comments:  "HMV"

Ok spent some time looking over your healthy submission this month. I see you have been experimenting and
nothing like this topic to get those brain sparks firing for a shot.
I am glad I took a day or so on your eval as I noticed my perception of a few of your shots change the more I
analyzed them.

Firstly I must say the clear winner in my eyes is HMV, I really like the way you have incorporated the slow shutter
work into this shot and exposed it so well. Did you play with getting each shot right before conducting the double
exposure with this? The garden lights take on a musical note which is in support of the HMV motif – Nice!

Other images in order of merit:

  • Impersonator: nicely put together but perhaps over processed for my liking, the equal spacing of the subject
also evokes a copycat air to the fashion hype as a whole. Cool

  • Back to nature: This shot doesn’t look as dramatic small screen but looking at it on a full portrait orientated
screen it really popped. The camouflage green ghost like quality catches my attention.

  • Taking a breather: I do like the soft Christmas exposure and warmth of this perspective image, the stillness
of the person could have been exploited more by a slower shutter or spaced more apart for the other
    shoppers.

  • Pandanus Apartments: Yep nicely overlaid here that sort of comes together with the composition and
    structure of both exposures.

  • Double BB: My word your kids are growing up. Nice smile but could have done more to excite me with the
    setup of this shot.

  • Xray: did you use a tripod for this shot? Interesting processing and symmetry. Just don’t so knocked off my
socks – hence why down here?

  • Fluid Flats: Great name a bit wobblerly and unstable to look at for extended times.

  • Mossaic fern: I do like this image but do not see much other than the nice patterns and colour.

  • Reptilian: interesting train smash of colours but I have lost any observation of the lizard in the wash up?

Martin's Pick - score and comments:  "Goldman"

Melbourne is so off limits from now on.... Bit of a mixed bag this month Braaaz. Some I am liking lots, and some not
so much. My choice for this month is the shot that in my opinion shows the best forethought and execution.
Goldman takes it by a street. Outstanding composition to get this shot without a crop. Looks like you hit the
patterned material with a flash also to enhance the vignette. Colours nice and no overcooking in post. Likey.

Other shots in order of merit:

Stay-calm – Another no cropper, but one which I really would have taken the scissors to in order to get the text
central. Top foresight in getting this. Print and hang (after cropping).

  • VW-Coaster - It just looks bloody good.

  • Old & New - Very relevent and nicely exposed. Not so hot on the composition.

  • City Hussle  - Hmm I like it, but I think there could have been some more interest in the foreground.

  • Hair Room - Nicely worked "allyoop" shot. Perfect symmetry would have been difficult, but was required
here to hit the top shelf. It also looks like your shots were at different exposures. Love the colour filter.

  • London-bots - When I saw this thumbnail I said "Yeeeeeaaaass", and opened it stright away. Still a good
shot, but I think I was expecting some more "stuff" going on. I had a similar shot with the Aussie flag
    overlaying toy soldiers. Binned it.

  • Serene Garden - It does indeed look serene. A bit puzzled as to how you got the shot... Two shot shift and
one shot tilt? Anyways, I like the colour and processing.

  • Paris2 - Yep like it, don't love it

Thats all from me..... The other shots are not in the mix. Reasonable bag of shots this month Braaaaz. Stop
frigging leaving Cairns!!!.

Rideyo man only four this month - lift your game - over and out..
