Martin's Pick - score and comments:  "Teddied"

Superb grabs this month Bra. Probably do well in a "Street" topic. Melbourne was very kind to you. This month I
reverse engineered my eval; that's to say I chose the shot that I could score the highest regardless of whether it
was my favourite shot or not. In the washup actually picking my favourite shot was somewhat challenging in itself.
Nonetheless, this eval is probably my favourite to date. The shot I judged to take the gong this month is
Teddied.
For starters, I would love to know the setup - lighting, apertures, shutter etc. It almost appears impossible to
produce. Composition is bang on with plenty of interest and no frame wastage. Lighting is excellent, looks like the
place was flooded with LEDs and if you did hit it with strobe it is not immediately evident. Yes, it is WOW. Would
make for a great print after rubbing away a few of the shines. BTW, cudos for not using underscores. Brickbats for
the overuse of hyphens.

  • Vege-graffiti – OK, this is my favourite shot. Not sure if it really hits topic, but who cares. Love the grunge.
Love the colours (except the reds). I noticed it was'nt cropped.... The top of the forklift may have improved
    the overall shot.

  • Burgers & Fries - Very New York feel here. Perfect colour. Would make a great poster.

  • Fashioned - Struck gold here with the model and location braaaaaz!!! Phenomenal lighting. Very nicely
processed too. Modern?? Bloody oath. This was my second choice on the scoring scale.

  • Mad-hat  - Really like this one. Desat is well thought. Just wanted a little more connection with the vendor.

  • Halloween - I'm kinda getting this one. Great technique on the branches. Modern? I suppose.

  • Modern-Portrait - Nice subject connection and composition generally. Not so sure about the colours and
sharpening though. That blot above his head is shitting me.

  • Central - Hmmm. I bet you have other shots from a different point of view?? I do like this, but it has me
    wanting to get lower.

  • City Windpower - Loving the framing and overall flatness. On any other day I may have had this shot well
up the ladder. Not sure of the time of day it was taken, but I bet this shot would be one of those that you
could revisit 4-5 times a day.

Thats enough from me..... The other shots are not in the mix. Great bag of shots this month Braaaaz. No more
leaving Cairns OK.

Sean's Pick - score and comments:  "Big Country Town"

Ok Finally finished going through your subs, have to say a bit light on this month mate? but considering your
excuses I have tried to not be too hard. I accessed this month in much the same way - and one stood out from the
pack by far and accordingly took the gong.
Big Country Town did it for me - funny enough when i lived in
Brisbane I called it the same thing & I am from the country!? I do really like the stillness in this shot and the way
the black clipping of the buildings works with the river. Perhaps a little to much fringing around the buildings for my
ideal liking and yeah composure could have been a bit more balanced as the right hand side feels chopped off to
me. All the same a clear winner.

Other shots in order of merit :

  • Das Auto - Good attention with models - nice reflective exposure on car - sunglasses hut peeing me off in
back ground - I wondered if you moved around and framed the care with the container side on would have
assisted in showing off the car and cutting out the irrelevat stuff..

  • Cabbage - This is a really interesting perspective playing with some of the angles and topic - cool, The fusion
exposure is a little over cooked to my liking, getting close to midday in bright conditions hasnt helped you
either. I reckon this place could offer some other interesting angles and moods at dawn or
    dusk?

  • Modern Man - good height and framing of this subject, it reminds me of a Gary Larson comic abit and
made me smile. Not much technical work here but do note your ninja skills - no one else noticed you taking
    this optune shot.

Rideyo man only four this month - lift your game - over and out..
