Martin's Pick - score and comments: "Road Trip"
again about variety.... Not enough for me again. I need to see you get "Unholy".
My selection for best shot this month was based on the theory of "making a good image into a sensational image", with that in mind there was no doubt that Road-Trip best fitted
that mind set. The original image is unremarkable but interesting. Post production has enhanced it ten fold, even to a point where it is now quite "Remarkable". Colours, contrast
and levels are all terrific. Click print - A2. Hang it.
Other image notes in order of merit:
- Triffid – Not a lot of interest in the original, but the submitted shot is very pleasing on the eye. Colours are dreamy, if not a little aquatic. DOF appears to hit the mark also.
Crop works well except for that little green dot to the right. The eyes are a welcome inclusion. Nice.
- Birdcagey – Nice capture to start with. I like the punch added by way of inversion to the background and desat to the bird. Maybe a tighter crop and removal of the "shite"
on the antenna could have enhanced this one.
- Gingered – Not enough punch in the original to aid PP, but the final product works well. Great colours.
- Tropic-life – Subtle HDR showing nice highlights and silhouette. I am not sure why I don't really like the overall shot..... Maybe the monochrome? Did you try to desat
everything but green and blue? I think this shot could be easily improved back in the lab.
Can't wait to see you unleash the D700 this month..... BTW, what's the frigging topic??

Sean's photo notes
Gday M8, well I didn’t get that call Friday night to pick you up. Its a pity bras as the boys have only left today and we have been plastered since
their arrival.
Rest assured I haven’t sabotaged you with my late submission "no" shots taken over the weekend.
Image notes – yeah same goes as you – just lab work & really not that exciting due poor time management – no D700 work just yet.

Sean's Pick - score and comments: "King George V"
RideyOMan!
Nice submission this month with lots of variety! Considering the topic I have omitted the use of the following weightings Cropped, Cont / Colour improved, Retouched, for obvious
reasons.
My pick out of your lot is King George V I really like, good use of subject matter & interesting exploitations. The stacked set works well with the layers of props which are actually
reality. Man genius shot perhaps only improved if you worked out how to get the grey sky blue again?
Other shots in order of merit
- Lollies – As I reckon you nailed the post production of the initial shot and have thrown an air of graphic design into the mix which has only complimented the shot. I like the
use of DOF but perhaps if it was on Hutton’s fingers it would have put more emphasis onto the subject of lollies. If anything else I might of ditched the doorway in the
background ?
- Hoop Pine, this also is a nicely put together shot reminiscent of a scientific image of some value. Great colour and exposure.
- Espresso – Sorry for leaving this one out – I can see you went to some effort here bud. I can almost smell that brew from here! – Post production adds some lift perhaps a
hint of steam is missed. Good composition noted also.
- Essentials – Yep this is a nice shot to look at but I sort of prefer the first image, the depth of field on the subject should have extended through to the rear piece of garlic or
cheese?
- Masonry, I like the H block tonal change and texture relief – although not genius still nice.
- Green light, mate I reckon you had me on your first image?
- Form 1 – have seen better HDRs from you of recent?
